if it was truly science, there would be no debate.This falls in the realm of pseudo science like economics (the 'dismal' science) because you cannot run experiments like chemistry and physics. Conclusions then are based on models and assumptions which are subject to opinion and estimates and political bias. Your analogy to the atom bomb is absurd. That was a political decision based on the opinion of Albert Einstein that the Germans were pursuing the bomb. He turned out to be wrong. He became a pacifist and believed, in hind sight, that his letter to Roosevelt was a huge mistake
